CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bucknell freshman forward Kaitlyn Slagus was named both the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week following her performance during the eighth week (Dec. 28-Jan.3) of the 2015-16 season. The rookie scored 21 points in back-to-back games to lead the Bison to a pair of Patriot League victories and a 2-0 start in League play for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Slagus is the first player to sweep both weekly awards since teammate Jacquie Klotz did so back on Feb. 23, 2015.

KAITLYN SLAGUS, BUCKNELL Fr., 6-2, F, Belle Vernon, Pa.
Making her Patriot League debut at Navy, Slagus notched a career-high 21 points in just 15 minutes of playing time, which included 13 straight Bison-points during one stretch of the 51-41 victory. The Belle Vernon native was 8-for-10 from the field, 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, 3-for-3 from the line, and also tallied five rebounds. Against preseason favorite Army West Point at home, Slagus earned her first collegiate start, hauled in eight rebounds, and once again produced 21 points in the 79-69 victory. With the rookie’s help, Bucknell is 2-0 in League play for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Slagus earns her second Rookie of the Week honor and first Player of the Week award this season.

INFINITI THOMAS-WAHEED, HOLY CROSS So., 5-10, G, Newton, Mass.
Thomas-Waheed posted her two best games as a Crusader last week, when she helped Holy Cross begin Patriot League play with a 2-0 record. After totaling 20 points, six rebounds, and a career-high five steals in the 60-41 win over Boston University, the sophomore recorded a career and game-high 21 points in the 57-49 victory versus Navy.
KELSEY MINATO, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., 5-8, G, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Minato helped Army West Point to a 63-39 Patriot League home-opener victory over Lehigh, totaling 19 points, six rebounds, a season-high seven assists, and career-best six steals. The senior netted a season-high 35 points in the Black Knights’ loss at Bucknell, 79-69, and her 16 field goals against the Bison were a career high.
COLLEEN MARSHALL, LOYOLA MARYLAND Sr., 5-9, G, Gaithersburg, Md.
Marshall led the Greyhounds to a 2-0 start to the Patriot League season, posted a team-high 17 points in the 52-46 win against American and then a team-best 22 points versus Lafayette. With one second remaining, the senior netted the game-winning layup to defeat the Leopards 66-65 and was featured on Sports Center Top 10.
